The Grinch (2018)

December 3, 2018

This year’s The Grinch movie is an animated science fiction movie full of the classic antics we all know and love from the Grinch. This time the Grinch is played by Benedict Cumberbatch who in my opinion does a great job playing his character. The movie takes place in and around Whoville during Christmas time.

For this year’s Christmas, the people of Whoville have decided to make Christmas bigger and better than ever before. But the Grinch isn’t too impressed with the idea. He is more concerned about having peace and quiet on his Christmas. So he devises plans to become Santa and terrorize the kids in Whoville. He plays jokes and pranks on everyone in the town, but there is one girl who is trying to stop the Grinch. Her name is Cindy-Lou. She is trying to work hard for her mom and get her a present. The Grinch takes to the idea and starts to like Cindy, but he realizes that this might be a problem if he is going to achieve his goal of stealing Christmas.

Something that shouldn’t go underappreciated is the background music. In the movie, the background music changes between music that has a more schemeish feel to a more loving feel. In many films, the background music sets the tone for each scene. Background music is instrumental here as well.

The movie is a strong revamp of the older classic. With well done animation from Universal Pictures, children and adults alike can both appreciate the film. The only thing I didn’t like is the ending, but I won’t spoil it.
