Ashley Moore: Freshman Cheerleader

Originally from Portsmouth, Virginia, 15 year old Ashley Moore balances the life of being a cheerleader and maintaining a social life with a smile on her face.

Being a freshman at Churchland High School, Moore participates in the school’s cheerleading team for varsity sideline and competitive cheer. Cheerleading is not Moore’s only interest though. In her free time, she loves to watch anime, take naps, and listen to music.

“I like to listen to Kpop, Jpop, and even gospel music. I also like to listen to H.E.R. and Jazmine Sullivan. Many people like rap, but it is not something that I really listen to.”

There are things that people do not know about other people. With Ashley Moore, she wants people to know that she is a hard worker. She hopes that the people around her acknowledge that she works hard to achieve her goals.

“I want people to know that I work really hard to get things done. I want them to know that I am not a slacker.”

One of her closest friends, Eniola Shorunke, who has known Ashley since birth, says, “Ashley is a funny, caring, determined, and smart person.” Being in the same grade, they share a lot of hobbies. They both like to cheer, sing, and dance together whenever they can.

Moore has a big vision for the future. With wanting to travel the world and help those around her, she says that being a travel nurse is the best of both worlds. Traveling has been a lifelong dream of hers and she hopes to go to Korea, Japan, and Dominican Republic.

“I have always wanted to travel the world and see the different cultures and beautiful lands that exist on this Earth. I want to be a nurse because I think that helping people is a big passion of mine. Travel nurses get to help the people that need it, as well as go around the world.”

Moore is only a freshman, but she does have a plan and some ideas for her future years in high school. Since she wishes to go into nursing, she wants to do the nursing program that is provided at Norcom High School in her junior year. But that’s not all. During her senior year, she would like to take DE, or dual enrollment, classes as well as participating in first college.

Ashley Moore is a freshman that has big hopes for the future and a girl that is determined to reach her goals no matter the obstacles that lay ahead of her.
