Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Movie Review

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a Dreamworks animation film that either takes place in Spain or Mexico. It’s a comedy/adventure genre film with a couple of mild adult jokes in the movie as well. The main actors are Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots), Salma Hayek (Kitty Soft-paws), Florence Pugh (Goldilocks), Harvey Guillen (Perrito), and John Mulaney (Jack Horner).

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is about a cat (Puss in Boots) who has run out of eight out of nine lives and is down to his very last one and starts being chased by the main villain, Death, who is a wolf. So he gets sent to a kitty daycare where he meets a dog pretending to be a cat named “Perrito” who later joins him on his quest to get his lives back. Puss in Boots sneaks into Jack Horner’s pie factory where he goes to steal the map of the last wishing star where he meets Kitty Softfpaws. Now, they both have history dealing with relationships and a wedding that he ran away from, so Kitty Softpaws doesn’t exactly trust him fully until later. Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, and Perrito steal the map and end up being chased by Goldilocks and Jack until later on where Death comes to take the last life that Puss has.

The animation quality of the movie is spectacular. It is a huge upgrade from the original style of animation. It is a mix of the animation of CGI and draw animation and they both mix incredibly. Although, there are some parts in the movie where the animation quality drops for a second but other than that they did a great job.

The movie itself was extremely great. It felt like I was watching a 15-minute video. The movie felt rushed in some parts, but it was well done to the point where it is difficult to point out. The movie lived up to the hype as well. It was suggested to me by many saying that it was a great movie and it may very well be the movie of the year.
